In our society we aren’t taught how to screen potential partners, nor are we taught how to sustain a marriage so it is no surprise that there are so many marriages in trouble. We are required by law to obtain a license to drive a car but we aren’t required to do any relationship training prior to getting married. This is insanity when marriage is considered very important to the overall function of the family unit and society, and also because it is one of the most important legal contracts we will sign in our lifetime.
I know from personal experience how challenging it is when you feel you cannot fully trust your partner. It is unsettling and destabilising and it can be likened to having a house built on quicksand; it feels like the house may fall down at any moment. I also know what it feels like to be with a partner who can be trusted. There is a distinct difference between the two.
